There really is no standard criteria when searching for the best wedding photographer. You know that you deserve nothing but the best on your best day ever – your wedding day. Everything has to be perfect for it is the day that you will remember for the rest of your life. Therefore getting the best photographer is essential to capture the special moments and detail of that big day to look back on as you grow old with the one you love.
Take your time in choosing who you believe will be the best for you - don’t ever rush it. You will regret having hastily chosen a photographer out of lack of effort and the results will be obvious in your wedding album. The best wedding photographer for me is someone who you connect with as a couple. It is important for a photographer to understand who you are as a couple for him to be able to capture the happy moments of the day. They say a picture paints a thousand words, I believe it is that chemistry between the photographer and subject which enables a picture to speak out loud.
Another quality to look for in a wedding photographer is his or her style. There are literally hundreds of great photographers out there and you can readily see their work at wedding exhibits and even online. Let their photo journal speak to you. You will know who the right photographer is based on the style of their work and how this communicates to you as a couple.
The best wedding photographer for me is someone who knows how to listen. Not to instruct the photographer on how to do his job, but simply for him to know your needs and wants. A photographer’s personality will greatly affect how the picture would look like, not to mention your mood towards the person. After all, this day is about you as a couple. The pictures he will take are your life’s memories that you will want to happily relive over and over.
A little flexibility goes a long way. With hundreds of photographers available to your liking, choose one who will be flexible for you. One who is flexible to your specifications, flexible to your schedule – and you know how busy it can get during a wedding preparation; even flexible when it comes to, yes, payment options.
They say experience is the best teacher, I say they’re right. The best wedding photographer is someone who knows what to do first hand; one who knows the trade, the works, and even what to do when something unexpected happens. You won’t want a novice taking amateur pictures only to find out that he forgot to put film on his camera – okay, this may be going a little too far, but I’m sure you understand the point. He or she should be someone who won’t give you any headaches.
One last thing is that a wedding photographer should be quick on his feet. Age doesn’t matter as long as he or she has the eye and the stamina to be able to move quickly to capture the moment before it passes. These I believe are the characteristics of the best wedding photographer.
