The many tourists and visitors that have come to Piedmont and the areas surrounding are surprised how beautiful, in many ways, this place is. The modern world continues to develop, while this area still has several miles of clear rivers, streams, lakes, trees as well as solitude and fresh air. The soothing sounds of nature, such as birds singing, that most of us dream of can be found here. The woods and waterways are full with wild fish and game. The Piedmont city, along with the surrounding areas, blend naturally into this setting, though modern conveniences are available, they work together with the natural surroundings as well.

If you love to shop there are many crafts stores as well as flea markets and antique shops located in the city. Traveling around the city is one activity to be enjoyed by all the people visiting Piedmont. Some of the major destinations, which are located within driving distance of the city are Wappapello Lake, Black Rivers and Same A. Baker state park. To the west of the city you will find the Ozark Natural Scenic River ways, which is home to two of the float streams of America, the current and jacks Fork River.

One of the favorites among visitors is the great fishing to be done here. One of the most popular recreation and fishing lakes in Missouri is the Clearwater Lake located in the city of Piedmont. If you get the chance to see the city from above, it will seem to sparkle like an emerald jewel among the beautiful settings of the Ozark. This is why it is commonly referred to as the gem of the Ozark. You can enjoy other activities on the Clearwater lake such as swimming, water skiing and boating. You will find the perfect activity for any water lover on this lake. Clearwater lake has no closed season on fishing so you can catch many types of fish including sunfish, crappie, flat heads, white bass and channel fish to a certain daily limit.

Deer Run is one of the local campgrounds in the area and will offer anyone looking to leave the stress of everyday life behind and enjoy the wonder and beauty of nature. This campground offers many amenities such as hot showers, camp stores, dump station, tubing, fishing, hiking, a playground, waterfront and a pool. This campground is open year round for camping so anytime is a good time to visit. There are several other campgrounds in the area that offer some of the same if not more amenities than Deer Run. You will find a visitor's center in most of these to find out more information about what kinds of things you can do as well as what times you can do them.

Something that is a must and should not be missed is the golfing available in this area. The several counrty clubs in the area offer semi-private holes with the zoysia fairways, bent grass greens and paved pathways. The Piedmont Canyon Club is just one of the several golf clubs to enjoy in the area. The terrains on this course can range from hilly to flat and are all tree lined. Many of these clubs offer so many other things to do on top of the great golf courses. You will find shopping, restaurants as well as some swimming facilities.
