Super League is the top-level professional and specialized rugby confederation football association which is held as a competition in Europe. The commencement of the super league goes back to march 1996. Ever since then, the league has seen many teams entering and exiting the competition. Recently, in the year 2009, the Wales team- the Celtic Crusaders entered the competition.

The rules of the game goes like this: the Super league allows its participants to win two trophies from the months of February to September, the league has its regular season during which every team involves in 27 games over 27 rounds. These 27 games include 13 home games and 13 away games in company with the ‘Magic Weekend’ game. When there is an end of the regular season, the league involves something called play-offs in which the top 8 teams of the regular season compete. This, in turn, determines the winners of the league. The other trophy to be won is called the League Leaders Shield. The team winning upto the top of the stepladder while the regular season goes on is the proud victor of this trophy.

Year 2009 can be called a historical year for the super league. Why? Fans would know! That’s because during this year, the sport was played in 5 diverse countries within one single season. These countries were Scotland, Spain, France, Wales and England.

The teams competing the 2010 super league season are: Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Catalans Dragons, Harlequins, Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC, Hull Kingston Rovers, Leeds Rhinos, Salford City Reds, St Helens, Wakefield Wildcats, Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors. These clubs were proposed to be merged initially into- Calder, Hull, Cumbria, Cheshire, Manchester and South Yorkshire. This did not prove to be a very good idea, though and hence the clubs which existed were only selected for the league.
