Despite the internet, a growing number of digital TV channels, DAB radio, mobile technology and other modern mediums, out of home advertising is as relevant now as it has ever been. And getting your message across has never been easier with out of home advertising having gone through a digital makeover itself.
Out of home advertising has always been a successful method of marketing after all, we spend a lot of time out of the home so its the ideal place to market and promote items. Out of home advertising comes in many forms and is found in nearly all environments: Railway stations, shopping centres, concourses, on buses, in shops and along the high street, but with so many out of home messages around it can be difficult for marketers and advertisers to get their messages noticed.
The biggest problem with out of home advertising is this omniscience of outdoor ads, not only can marketing messages get lost in the crowd, but also people become so used to advertising that we become de-sensitised and blind to it, not taking in messages unless they are really eye-catching or clever.
Advertisers are, therefore, always looking for a way of getting their messages seen and one method that is becoming increasingly popular is the digital poster.
Digital posters are a modern and dynamic method of advertising; in essence they are nothing more than modern LCD type TV screens, equipped with media players that run advertising content rather than TV programmes.
Being able to run moving images, digital posters are far more eye-catching and noticeable than static images, helping to draw the eye and get the message across.
And there are other advantages to digital posters too that provides advertisers with some added benefits: First of all, once erected, there are few costs with using digital posters, unlike static posters that have high printing costs, digital content can be generated cheaply.
Unlike static media, digital posters can also display multiple adverts, so revenue can be maximised from the same advertising spot with different adverts running one after the other. Furthermore, digital posters can be networked together with content being uploaded remotely doing away with the need for technicians to travel around to different sites, pasting up content.
Digital posters also work well at night and in low lighting as the LCD TV backlight provides illumination, making them even more noticeable in weaker light levels and at night.
Digital posters come in a variety of forms. The most common form is similar to the traditional poster in that they are erected in portrait mode, flush against walls; however, there are also other variations with stand-alone digital posters that provide a feature that is easier to see although it does require a lot of space.
A multitude of style and sizes of digital poster are available and they are even available for outdoor locations, although these are very expensive to use as outdoor digital signage, although there is less digital competition in outdoor locations so some advertisers find the investment worthwhile.
Whether it is a small scale advertising campaign with just a couple of digital posters or a nationwide digital signage campaign, digital posters are a very practical and simple solution as they contain everything needed to begin uploading content and getting the digital poster working straight away.
Many businesses who invest in just a few digital posters tend to upload content manually using a USB flash drive, whilst those with many screens prefer to network them together as this provides added benefits of being able to schedule content too, so content can match the time of day (such as providing lunch time advertising)
