Standard File Transfer Protocol clients are commonly used technical tools to transfer and manipulate files between a local computer and a server on the internet. Designed and specified in mid 80', most FTP clients obtain the same features: security, integrity checks, the ability to perform multiple transfers of files, stop/resume features, etc. However, there is one main deficiency shared by all FTP clients: the absence of time dimension in their features. In other words, there is no record of the history of actions performed on the website by its developers.

For example, the owner of FTP managed website cannot detect specific actions performed on the website or the time when the actions were performed. When a few people work simultaneously on one website the problem is increased. Moreover, when file overwrite occurs the content of the previous file cannot be recovered and in addition it is impossible to track down the lost file (frequently occurring when working in teams). Zalman 2010 (http://www.zalmansoftware.com) is designed to supply a solution to these exact issues with the ability to control every action performed on the website.

While current FTP clients do not provide their users with the mechanism of archive, as well as the ability to compare files before uploading new ones, this new FTP program provides a diff tool that allows to compare the local copy with the remote copy before overwrite occurs. Hence, before a new file is uploaded the system will automatically present the previously saved file.

Current FTP clients are defined as stateless protocol because each command is executed independently. Zalman FTP client 2010 contains an additional feature of logic layer and therefore every specific action can be tracked.

The solution provides a unique "change list methodology" to the website as for the first time all changes performed on the website can be viewed with one single click. Among its many features the system includes a powerful and seamless archive engine that automatically backs all data (both to remote and local folders). This revolutionary system saves hours of searching for a lost or deleted files and simplifies the development and maintenance of every website. It is an ideal solution for small and medium websites that works "right out of the box" and its installation takes less than one minute. It supports SSL/FTPS/XCRC and all other common FTP client features.
