Nowadays with so much care, attention, and just plain old love lavished on our canine companions, dog hotels are blossoming throughout the country. No more do we just shake our heads in amazement when we hear about dog hotels that provide everything from exercise rooms to spa treatments for our four-legged friends. It's not just for eccentric Hollywood movie stars and their pets anymore. Dog hotels are an ingrained part of American life, and they are here to stay!
It may shock you to learn that Americans spend $40 billion a year on their pets, but that includes such items as dog insurance, dog medications, and dog nutrition. People love their pets and consider them family. That's just the way it is. And many of them don't think twice about taking their beloved pets with them on vacation, or putting them in doggy daycare while they are at work.
This has given rise to a new type of hotel, the luxury hotel for dogs. Most of these hotels cater to all dog breeds, large and small as long as they are well-behaved. You have Chateau Poochie in Florida, which is a five star luxury hotel for canines. It cost $2 million to build and is 10,000 sq ft. It even takes in some cats too.
A brief tour of the facilities, while "How Much is That Doggy in the Window croons over the speakers, shows that each suite is painted in a different gemstone hue and contains a flat-screen TV, chandelier, and custom made bedding. All animals receive the very best in dog care and that includes dog health care too, and there are cameras and speaker phones in the individual rooms so that worried doggy parents can check in on their best friends when they are at the spa, or playing with the other dogs, and make sure they are safe, comfortable, and, of course, spoiled to the max. There is even a Royal Suite, complete with king sized bed which your dog can be installed in for $200 a night.
If you think all of this is too extravagant, then wait until you hear about The Barkley Pet Hotel and Day Spa in Orange Village. They feature doggy day care and overnight stays as well. Each room is climate controlled and comes with a snout-camera. Some of the rooms even have pools so that your pup can have a swim in privacy if he prefers. And the pets are picked up by limo and delivered to the hotel, then brought home the same way. They also cater to cats, and have features where your kitty can virtual bird watch, or pretend he or she is swimming with the fishes if he wants to.
In conclusion, while some people may think that blueberry facials, doggy acupuncture, and manicures complete with neon pink toenail polish are a bit much, in today's world with all of its unpleasantness, maybe spoiling their pets, even if it is extravagantly, is just what some people need.
